Originally from Quito, Ecuador and current 2nd year Pediatrics resident at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (Miami, FL). Research experience includes a published retrospective epidemiological study about hospitalizations caused by asthma in Ecuador from 2001 to 2017, which was published in The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (JACI) and presented in their annual meeting in Philadelphia, PA in 2021. Another related study includes the prevalence and associated risk factors for asthma in adults, published in Colombia Medica, an international peer-reviewed medical journal. I am currently working towards creating a clinical pathway for the diagnosis of encephalitis and meningitis at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital as well as doing ultrasound research with artificial intelligence tools in the pediatric emergency department. Also currently working on developing a Kawasaki Disease pathway at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital as part of QI project related activities. Leadership experience includes starting a non-profit tennis program for children with autism and participating in international medical mission trips in undergraduate school. Volunteer activities include serving as an English Spanish interpreter in health fairs across South Florida communities.
